As part of the 16 days of action that begins Nov 25th, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, we were proud to partner with Maanobota Collective in Ghent, Belgium, for a screening and panel discussion with director Zana Shammi and film subject Rumana Monzur.

Untying the Knot was an official selection of CoSAFF, the Coalition of South Asian Film Festivals, a first-of-its-kind virtual showcase co-presented by seven South Asian film festivals from across the U.S. and Canada.
India – Nov 2019-March 2020
Untying the Knot was proud to be part of SamaBhav, a unique travelling film festival presented by Men Against Violence and Abuse. The film screened in seven cities across India, including Kolkata, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Kochi, Indore and Varanasi, playing to packed houses and sparking meaningful dialogue.
Norrköping, Sweden – Dec 1, 2019
Untying the Knot had its European Premiere at the 21st annual Flimmer Film Festival in Norrköping, Sweden. The screening was followed by a discussion with Bangladeshi journalist, Supriti Dhar.
New Delhi – Nov 18, 2019
Untying the Knot had its International Premiere in New Delhi, India. We were honoured to present the film at the prestigious India Habitat Centre.
Montreal – Nov 2, 2019
Untying the Knot was an official selection at the South Asian Film Festival of Montreal where it received the Audience Choice Award for Best Feature Documentary. We were honoured to be selected by the audience for this award. Thanks to everyone who attended and voted for the film.
Mississauga – Aug 2, 2019
Untying the Knot was an official selection at the Mosaic International South Asian Film Festival in Mississauga, Ontario, where it won the Sabeen Mahmud Award for Courage in Cinema. Thank you MISAFF for this incredible honour.

Untying the Knot had its Toronto premiere at the Hot Docs Ted Rogers Cinema as part of the special series Films Changing the World. This limited program features “must-see docs revealing staggering new perspectives and stories.” The screening was followed by a q&a with director Zana Shammi and special guests Rumana Monzur and Jannatan Naima.
